In order to enrich the learning experience of students, the Faculty of Business and Management in conjunction with the Department of Management organized an alumni experience-sharing seminar on October 25. Ms Kerry Cen, an assistant instructor and alumni in the Marketing Management program, was invited to share her study experience at UIC and the UK. The purpose of this seminar is to share Kerry’s experiences and provide detailed explanations on how to choose the major and country for further study with a specific process of applying for overseas postgraduate study.
Kerry summarized some effective learning experiences. She shared that pre-study, reviewing after class, interacting with teachers frequently, improving English by watching English movies and novels, communicating more in English, having good time management, developing a sense of teamwork, and participating in different activities is significant. She also gave a brief introduction to Marketing Management, which provided some references for the students attending the seminar.
Kerry also gave a detailed explanation and introduction on the process of applying to postgraduate universities and the documents that need to be prepared. She gave students a detailed application timeline, briefly introduced the choices of different countries and universities and explained some misunderstandings that might encounter during the application period. Kerry gave three suggestions when choosing the major for a master's degree, which is based on personal interest, undergraduate major, and future career expectations.
Finally, Kerry shared her experience of studying and living in the UK, gave her own advice on whether to choose to study abroad during the epidemic and briefly introduced the major of Marketing Analytics.
This seminar helped students deepen their understanding of Marketing Management and Marketing Analytics, as well as enriched their learning experience.
