EFMD, which stands for European Foundation for Management Development, was established in 1972. It is a global, non-profit, membership-based organization dedicated to the development of management education. It is widely recognized as an accrediting body for business schools, business school programs, and corporate universities. EFMD has a total of 983 member organizations across 92 countries worldwide, including 62 member business schools in China.

The European Quality Improvement System (EQUIS), developed by EFMD, is an international quality accreditation system targeting business schools. It is one of the most rigorous quality accreditation systems in Europe and is recognized as one of the three most authoritative business school accreditations worldwide. The system values the diversity of course formats and the internationalization of institutions, advocating for close ties between higher management education institutions and the business community, and aims to maintain a balance between professional theoretical knowledge and business practice.
