Top 2! UIC students excel at Accounting and Business Knowledge Competition

    The final of the 4th Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao Universities Accounting and Business Knowledge Competition was held at UIC on 12 October 2023. Nine teams from the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area participated, and UIC students won the second prize and the Best Performance Award.


    The teams were graded from five sessions, including team spirit, case study, required questions, quick questions and risk questions, testing their comprehensive abilities of professional knowledge, information on the Greater Bay Area, teamwork, innovative thinking, expression and risky decision-making.

    The students showcased good skills, especially in the case study. By learning the business environment and policies in the Greater Bay Area, they proposed strategic business development plans for enterprises in digital technology, high-end manufacturing and biological or Chinese medicine to grasp regional opportunities.


    UIC team was led by Li Xiang with three other teammates, Pang Yuling, Rao Siqing and Zeng Ziqiao, instructed by Dr Su Yuanhan. Li won the Best Performance Award and said she hoped to share development opportunities with the youth in the Greater Bay Area in the future.

    The competition was first held in Zhuhai, initiated by the Guangdong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Council for the Promotion of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Cooperation. It was organised by UIC and the Council's Accounting Committee this year. It lasted for more than half a year, with the support and participation of the governments and experts of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, who contributed to the preparation and evaluation.



    Senior management from the Guangdong government and the Council and UIC Provost Prof Patrick Chau delivered speeches in the final.

    UIC held a dinner for the teams and guests from the competition for further communication among all parties, and UIC Associate Vice President (Student Development), Acting Dean of the School of General Education Prof Stella Cho spoke at the dinner.
