During my four years of undergraduate studies, I gained a wealth of experience. On one hand, in terms of professional knowledge, the College offered students a wide range of elective courses of AE, from labour economics to industrial organization, from development economics to game theory, which greatly enriched our learning options and allowed students interested in economics to freely explore their favourite areas. On the other hand, in extracurricular activities, we were given space to organize various events, from innovative to large-scale activities, which not only enriched my university life but also trained my organizational skills and helped me make friends. Additionally, the teachers always provided substantial support. My thesis supervisor, Dr. Jina Yu, spent a lot of time discussing my academic path with me, and Dr. Shi Hao provided tremendous support when I was uncertain. I am forever grateful for their help.

My four years in UIC have left me too many memories, and I have gained professional knowledge, sincere friendship, and courage to keep me going forward. Group projects of various courses made me better understand the knowledge outside the books and the importance of teamwork. Many kinds of clubs and volunteer activities in UIC made me more independent and confident, and encouraged me to explore the life I want. Now I have entered the workplace for half a year, and my four years of college life in UIC have enabled me to adapt to the new environment quickly. When facing with many tasks I can also solve them in an organized way. In the future, I hope to be align with UIC and all UICers to climb high and try to be a cool person.

It seems that the fast-forward button has been pressed in the summer of 2022. Not until I got on a plane did I realize: UIC has sent me to a higher and farther place, allowing me to open my eyes and see the world.

Looking back, I experienced too many interesting things. I met a group of professors who inspire our hope, ignite our imaginations, and instill a love of learning. I also met a group of soul sisters and forever friends, the sincere friendship began in the first year of college and ended at the end of time.

Finally, I sincerely hope that all students from UIC can cherish college lives, find what they love, and get what they get. Go out into the world and search for what is next, and so will I.

My four-year undergraduate experience at UIC profoundly shaped my academic and professional path. Throughout my studies, I took numerous courses across different areas of economics as well as mathematics and econometrics courses necessary for research. The Applied Economics faculty provided meticulous mentorship and rigorous training, which not only solidified my academic foundation but also deeply cultivated my interest in the field of economics. The ongoing academic challenges and the process of completing my final year project promoted my curiosity and enthusiasm for exploring new areas, ultimately affirming my decision to pursue an academic career.

After completing my master's degree, I rejoined AE as an assistant instructor. This past year has enriched my understanding of the subject and allowed me to engage with the younger cohorts of economics students. I will continue my exploratory journey with a persistent curiosity about the unknown and hope to contribute to the development and enhancement of the Applied Economics program in the future.
