“Preparing for the QP reports and presentations was painful but rewarding as well,” said Year Four Applied Economics student Zhu Zheheng, the Best Presenter of the Qualification Programme (QP) Case Analysis Competition 2014, at a Celebration Ceremony on 17 December.

Earlier this month, student teams from UIC’s Division of Business and Management (DBM) achieved a historic clean sweep at this national accounting competition in Guangzhou.

Zhu Zheheng gave suggestions to future QP competition applicants. He told them to “learn to enjoy the process” and to be “willing to sacrifice their time.”

“Teach yourselves things you do not know. Your advisor will guide you, but the ideas in the report must be yours. Be passionate about your ideas and believe in your plan.”

UIC President Prof Ng Ching-Fai congratulated the three winning teams and expressed his appreciation to the advisors and other staff members who helped the students in preparing for the competition.

Dean of DBM Prof Stella Cho told the audience of the dramatic moment when the eventual champion team was not eligible for the final until a team from another university withdrew.

She said she was not surprised that three UIC teams took the top three places in the end, as they are equipped with good English and presentation skills, problem-solving abilities, and presented convincing and to-the-point answers.
