Becoming CFA Charterholder

Mr Neil Govier

Neil Govier, Head of Education of Asia Pacific at the CFA (Chartered Financial Analyst) Institute, visited UIC and gave a speech on the CFA Charter on 14 April. The lecture was organized by DBM.

Mr Govier first introduced that the CFA Institute is a global, non-for-profit association of investment professionals that sets the standard for professional excellence. He emphasized that CFA is a globally recognized qualification and has the same standard worldwide.

Govier then talked about the curriculum settings and exam arrangement of CFA. After passing three levels of CFA exams, candidates are required to obtain four years of relevant working experience to get the CFA Charter. With the CFA Charter, people can develop comprehensive investment perspectives and better adapt to the financial industry.

Q&A Session

After the lecture, the audience interacted with Neil Govier actively. Yang Fan, a Year 3 student from Accounting Programme, asked that “How does CFA train people to be more effective in the workplace?” Mr Govier replied that “CFA enables candidates to be internationally capable of mastering technical financial information and motivates them to work hard on it.”
