CSIAM Activity Group on Financial Technology and Algorithm in preparation

The establishment of the China Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics (CSIAM) Activity Group on Financial Technology and Algorithm officially started after the approval of CSIAM's Executive Council in March 2021. Director of Peking University Blockchain Research Centre, Chief Scientist of UIC-WingChain Blockchain Research Centre, Prof Chen Zhong serves as the director of the Activity Group. Meanwhile, among the others, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and UIC President, Prof Tang Tao, and the Dean of UIC's Division of Business and Management, Prof Steve Liu Wenbin, serve as vice directors.

Founded in 1990,  CSIAM aims to bridge mathematics and the industrial and business communities. CSIAM also promotes cooperation between mathematicians and engineers, technicians, and corporate managers, to solve various mathematical problems hindering economic and technological development, and to further the research and education in applied mathematics.

The Financial Technology Committee, a sub-branch under CSIAM, which is in the planning stage, aims to promote financial technology development through relevant academic exchanges and project studies.

The Financial Technology Committee mainly engaged in two research and business fields: Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, for their theoretical development and application in the financial sector. Specific application orientation focuses on the research and development of new theories, technologies, and algorithms enabled by science and technology in finance, including payment, risk management and control, Robo-advisor, Asset Digitization, Securitization, RegTech, Insurtech, LegalTech, and Blockchain.

CSIAM Financial Technology Committee was co-founded by Beijing WingChain Co., Ltd. and UIC, under UIC administration and is located at the UIC-WingChain Blockchain Research Centre (from now on referred to as "the Centre") on UIC's campus. The Centre boasts four laboratories, including a financial technology lab, a blockchain structure lab, an AI data analysis Lab, and a blockchain application lab.

Based on the big data from industries, the Centre will derive the data value and extend the coverage area of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence in the financial sector. Also, the Centre will put forward the more commonly used and available solutions and cases for further study on critical industries and typical application scene. Scientific exploration, product application, and talent cultivation, with a global impact on blockchain research and consultancy, are other roles for the Centre.
