UIC students shine at HKICPA Business Case Competition

At the 2021 HKICPA Business Case Competition final held in Guangzhou on 27 November, two UIC teams won the first and second runners-up. In addition, Yu Zhiyao, from the First Runner-up prize-winning team, won the Best Presenter.

The HKICPA Business Case Competition has welcomed tertiary students with diverse educational backgrounds to compete. Under the guidance of Ms Claudia Chow, four second-year students from the Accounting programme—Huang Boxiao, Deng Leyi, Yu Zhiyao and Tang Jialin received the First Runner-up as a team. In the final, the team analysed the business development problems of a garment company headquartered in Hong Kong during the epidemic. They studied the issues from auditing, consulting, taxation, etc., and provided solutions and development strategies.

Under the guide of Dr Zhan Ge, three third-year students from the Finance programme—Li Qiyao, Zhou Xiaoyue, Wang Yuji, and one from the Accounting programme—Guo Ziwen, won the Second Runner-up.

Before the competition, Dr Wing Sun Li opened a training workshop on business case analysis, and Dr Uchenna Eze, Dr Michael So, Dr Xi Jianqun and Dr Tian Zhimin guided the students.
