Guest Lecture | Exploring the research system of public funds - how to select high-quality funds

In the afternoon of May 11th, Ms. Jiang Yitin, Public Fund Product Specialist of CICC Product and Problem Solving Tribal, delivered a guest lecture on " Exploring the research system of public funds - how to select high-quality funds”. Dr. Minyu Wu, FIN Program Director, gave a welcome speech and briefly introduced Ms. Jiang.

 

At the beginning the lecture, Ms. Jiang introduced the background, development and characteristics of public funds.

 

Next, she introduced the screening system of two traditional types of public funds, equity funds and bond funds in detail and makes a case analysis of fund manager evaluation to the students by taking Lin Yingrui of GF fund and Zhang Qinghua of E-fund as examples.

 

The whole steps of screening equity public funds: 1. Quantitative preliminary screening: sort the funds and preliminarily describe the style portrait of fund managers; 2. Quickly explore high-quality investment targets with the help of procedural tools; 3. Clear style: combined with the investment style portrait of fund managers, strive to find the optimal solution under each category.

 

The whole steps of screening bond public funds: 1. Establish a qualitative +quantitative bond based research process, and conduct quantitative scoring and preliminary screening of bond funds to form a preliminary screening pool; 2. Attach great importance to the credit evaluation ability, credit strategy ability and risk preference evaluation of fund companies; 3. Comprehensive quantitative scoring and qualitative evaluation, and select funds from key core pools.

Finally, Ms. Jiang shared a short story about a monk fetching water, encouraging students to learn more about investment in addition to their daily study, so as to prepare for future work and investment.
