In order to enrich students’ horizons and improve their learning and living experience, The Faculty of Business and Management held a sharing session on the experience of studying abroad in Boston at T1-101 on May 11 at 18:00. This sharing session was delivered by Dr. Chang Zheng, Associate Professor of the Department of Applied Economics. More than 100 teaching staff and students participated in this event.
Dr. Chang Zheng is an Associate Professor in the Department of Applied Economics, The Faculty of Business and Management. He got his bachelor's, master's and doctoral degrees from Tianjin University, Tsinghua University, Peking University and Harvard University separately. Prior to joining UIC, he taught at the City University of Hong Kong. Since 2020, he has been a research scholar at the Harvard Kennedy School. From 2021-2022, he also conducted visiting and research cooperation at the Zurich University of Technology.
In the beginning, Dr. Chang shares according to the purposes of studying abroad, the application, Harvard learning experiences, the curriculum system of Harvard, and Universities in Hong Kong and Switzerland. Also, Dr. Chang has the following three suggestions for students. First, studying aboard is not the end of the story. Second, he encouraged students to plan for long-term study and become lifelong learners. At last, he said students should take hard mode first and life will be easier.
The sharing session was lively, and the students were very interested in it. After this session, some students also asked questions and consulted with Dr. Chang. He patiently answered all the questions.
