Eight teams from UIC achieved excellent results at the recent Guangdong Provincial Competition of the 11th National College Student "Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship" Competition. The competition was held online in June.
One of the UIC teams won the Outstanding Winner Prize, and one team won First Prize, three teams won Second Prize, and three teams won Third Prize. Also, Dr Gary Zhan was awarded Best Supervisor. In addition, Dr Hendrik Appelgryn, Dr Chankyung Pak, and Mr Yungui Qi were awarded Excellent Supervisors, plus UIC won the Award for Excellent Organising Institution.

The National College Student "Innovation, Creativity and Entrepreneurship" Competition is a national disciplinary competition for college students organised by the Ministry of Education's University E-commerce Professional Teaching Steering Committee commissioned by the Ministry of Education in 2009.
The competition is designed to stimulate the interest and potential of college students and cultivate their innovative and creative thinking, entrepreneurial ability and teamwork spirit. More than 2100 teams from 52 universities and more than 12,000 students participated in the Guangdong Provincial Competition.
UIC had previously organised a college-level competition
Two rounds of the UIC College-level Competition were organised by the Division of Business and Management (DBM) in April 2021, while 78 teams signed up. Teams were composed of students from all Divisions of UIC, even from other universities.
