Demand for Accounting Talent

The steady and rapid development of China's social economy and the rapid progress of science and technology have bred an urgent demand for the development of China's accounting industry and the cultivation of accounting professionals. The 13th Five-year Plan for Accounting Reform and Development issued by China’s Ministry of Finance points out that we should deepen China's accounting reform and actively implement the strategy of cultivating high-level and high-quality accounting talents. By the end of 2020, the total number of individual members of the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CICPA) has reached 280,000. However, there is still a shortage of 300,000 senior financial service talents and 3 million management accountants in China. It is an urgent task and educational goal for accounting majors in higher education institutions to bridge this gap.

Objectives for Accounting Education

The Accounting Programme aims to help students master the fundamental principles and knowledge of accounting, as well as various practical skills related to accounting, to lay a solid theoretical and practical foundation for their future career development when they work in the fields of accounting, auditing, corporate finance, investment, international tax planning, and so on so forth. Senior accounting majors will be guided to apply for the domestic and foreign CPA qualification examinations. Upon graduation, accounting students will master the professional knowledge of accounting and broad interdisciplinary knowledge. Accounting graduates will possess the comprehensive professional abilities of factual and theoretical analysis, frontiers exploration, critical thinking and decision-making, in-depth knowledge application, as well as effective bilingual communication skills in accounting and other related disciplines.
