Fan Jia led the team to establish BEEPLUS in 2015. The start-up team members are also alumni from different majors of UIC. Recently, BEEPLUS was selected as the “Quasi-Unicorn of China's New Economy in 2020” by iiMedia. Fan Jia was selected as one of the Top 10 Entrepreneurship Leaders in Zhuhai and Macao in 2016, and the Good Youth of Zhuhai in 2019. He was also selected into the Forbes Under 30 Elite List, Hurun Under30s Entrepreneurship Leader List, and Yale University "Innovative Visiting Scholar", becoming the model of youth entrepreneurship in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.

Going through four years of hard study, I’m now standing at a new crossing in my life. If I came to UIC four years ago with anxiety and anticipation, then now that I am about to enter the workforce with confidence and unbeaten calm, which comes from every assignment, project, or essay completed, every book read, and every minute of communication with teachers and friends over four years.

The understanding and experience brought to me by the liberal arts education, which is 'Read broadly and absorb briefly; accumulate solidly and express concisely', has given me a breadth of vision and depth of thought. Besides, my independent and responsible attitude, as well as my proficient bilingual application, have helped me stand out in the workplace and secure multiple ideal job offers.

The immensity of the university lies in the accumulation and endless exploration of various possibilities. Even after leaving school, I firmly believe that the concept of liberal arts will affect my life forever and make me never stop.

Shuo Zhang is now the Deputy General Manager of the Investment Banking Department of Changjiang Securities, the sponsor representative, the Chinese CPA, and has passed the HKICPA. He was previously hired as senior auditor in Ernst & Young Shenzhen branch. During his time at school, Shuo Zhang worked as an intern at Morgan Stanley, a world-renowned company. When he graduated, he got offers from Ernst & Young, Deloitte and the Fortune 500 companies e.g. Exxon Mobil.

Shuo Zhang said that the UIC accounting major is in line with international standards and four years of English teaching have not only laid a good business foundation for himself, but also expanded his international vision and provided a solid foundation for future career development.

After graduating from postgraduate school, Lei Liu has worked in the Big Four and investment bank successively. In 2018, the Shenzhen Stock Exchange was open to the public for recruitment, and Lei Liu seized the opportunity. "HKICPA and CICPA are both time-consuming and laborious. I suggest students who have the ability and energy to prepare as early as possible at the undergraduate level and strive to pass the CPA within 1 to 2 years after graduation; and during or 1 to 2 years after postgraduation, obtain internship experience in investment banking or Big Four and pass the sponsor representative examination."

Lei Liu mentioned, “Master various skills to enrich yourself. As a newcomer to the workplace, it is necessary to master basic skills such as Excel and Word. If you can master some data extraction, mining, and analytical skills will be more helpful."

Four years passed in the blink of an eye. I met many excellent teachers in UIC, who not only brought me rich professional knowledge, but also brought me the courage and strength to keep moving forward.  Before graduation, I sent an email to one of my teachers for future advise, and received his reply: “Remember it’s independent, logical, compassionate and creative thinking to unlock your potential and there will be challenges while you are pursuing your dreams, however, you should always live optimistically, bravely and gratefully for what you have”. In the new journey of work, this message gives me the direction when I’m confused, and also inspires me to keep moving forward.  Thank UIC teachers for everything they have taught me.

I think choosing UIC after the college entrance examination is a very wise decision for me. Life at UIC is very fulfilling and colorful. I have not only learned solid theoretical knowledge, but more importantly, UIC has provided me with an open platform, allowing me to participate in various activities and meet many friends. For example, the student union campaign, the national competition initiated by UIC, and the most significant is the national fundraising event held for poor children in Guizhou mountainous areas with the members of Sicheng Dream.

My major is accounting. Everyone thinks that accounting students are very hard. In fact, I think I am very proud of being a UIC accounting student. We have many good teachers. No matter it is a professional problem or other life puzzles, teachers are willing to help and share. In addition to the study of rigorous accounting professional knowledge, we also have many opportunities for us to apply our accounting knowledge to competitions or internships. For example, I participated in the case analysis competition of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the internship at PricewaterhouseCoopers. I have always felt that our UIC accounting students are very competitive.

Thanks to a good undergraduate education at UIC, I am fully able to adapt to the highly competitive environment of Hong Kong. During my master's degree, Mainland classmates came from prestigious universities such as Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University and Nanjing University. My good grades in courses are not inferior to those of my classmates. The employment situation in Hong Kong was not optimistic during the graduation year of my master's degree. With my outstanding performance in the written examination, manager interview, and partner interview, I soon received two offers from PwC and Deloitte in Hong Kong. I was the first to get the favourite job in Hong Kong among my classmates, and I had full confidence in my career development in Hong Kong.

Looking back on my school experience, I have benefited a lot from UIC's four years. Firstly, UIC's professional curriculum and teaching content are in line with international standards. The teachers are mainly from Hong Kong, Taiwan and foreign prestigious schools. The high-level teaching has enabled me to learn solid professional knowledge. Secondly, UIC has implemented four-year English teaching. With comprehensive training in all aspects of English listening, speaking, reading and writing, it is easy to adapt to the English learning environment and working environment. Thirdly, UIC has extensive business cooperation with universities, multinational companies, and social organizations in Hong Kong, Taiwan and abroad. The international education environment provides good conditions for students' international exchanges, internships, and professional development, which is very conducive to the growth of students.

When studying at UIC, Jiale Cheng set the goal of entering the "Big Four". At the beginning, with the purpose of expanding his horizons and social circle, Jiale Cheng chose UIC and came alone from Hong Kong to study. That was the first time Jiale Cheng had left home to live in a residential life. For him, it was not a small challenge.

At UIC, Jiale Cheng won school scholarship for three consecutive years and received a first-class honours degree when he graduated. In his spare time, he served as a student tutor in the accounting tutoring class for junior students, which cultivated his interest in accounting and laid a solid foundation for his career development. After graduating from UIC, Jiale Cheng entered the Graduate School of Business Information System at City University of Hong Kong and passed the professional qualification examination of the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants with excellent results. After graduating with a master's degree, he successfully joined the audit department of PwC (Hong Kong).

Jiale Cheng said: "There are no shortcuts to entering the ‘Big Four'. Lay a good knowledge foundation, take accounting related exams, find internships, expand your horizons and knowledge.Gradually accumulate your own advantages step by step, and you will eventually get the desired result."

In a blink of an eye, I have stepped into the society, and it was UIC's novel and unique education model that made me who I am today. The English teaching model allows me to understand the professional knowledge of accounting and to be able to use English fluently. The group projects and classroom presentations made me accustomed to teamwork and able to express my opinions confidently. In my graduation year, I chose to apply for postgraduate school and a job at the same time. The process was very difficult but came out with good result. In the end, I chose to work for Deloitte.

As an undergraduate, it was in my expectation to stand out among many postgraduate students. English is basically required for interviews in international companies. If there is no practice environment in normal times, and take the interview with tension, the result can be imagined. Fluent English expression was the cornerstone of my success. In addition, the interview also involved group discussions and individual speeches, which were testing the ability to cooperate and express. People who are too sharp or do not express well are often eliminated. In the four years of UIC, the accumulation of these abilities has helped me stand out from many competitors and become the person the company needs. After four years of sharpening a sword, there is still a long road to life, and graduation is just the starting point.

She participated in the summer courses at Cambridge University in the United Kingdom during the summer vacation of her junior year. She used to be a member of UIC Financial Association and Saifu team and created an English magazine called ACT based on her hobby of English writing, which provides a platform for communication among students majoring in accounting. She likes to be in contact with different cultures, and she likes to communicate with people from different countries and cultures. UIC's accounting major provides students with many internship opportunities, and directly recommends outstanding students to the Big Four accounting firms at campus job fairs, and also announces many related social positions and provides a good employment platform.

As UIC accounting students, we may have a broader vision than students from other universities in the Mainland, and we will have a stronger ability to actively collect information. The biggest gain of the four years of university is to become more independent in thought and life, and to have a clear direction and plan for the future. I feel that I have also greatly improved my communication, interpersonal skills and leadership skills, which have made me stand out in the interview with Deloitte Hong Kong.

During my four years at Beijing Normal University, I have been equipped with meticulous business logic thinking by the friendly teachers. The celebrity lectures provided by the school have given me the opportunity to think fully and have a dialogue with industry leaders, which gives me broad view. The open classroom environment also allows me to fully discuss current industry hotspots and academic paradoxes with my teachers, allowing me to transform from a well-behaved high school student into a mature college student with independent thinking and expression skills. It was these characteristics that UIC gave me that I was confident in my junior year, and played steadily in the competition with other prestigious masters and won two big four accounting firm offers.

In the future, I believe that the characteristics given to me by UIC will enable me to face the uncertain challenges of the complex business world confidently and calmly and to walk more steadily and steadily on the road of my life.

On the desk of EY, I type tens of thousands of words of the report, discussing the economic situation and taxation of various countries with colleagues. Such an independent and orderly life, I think, is inseparable from the training and education at UIC.

In the big family of accounting majors, I not only make friends and gain knowledge, but also participate in a wealth of after-school and winter and summer vacation activities, improve communication and organizational skills, and broaden international horizons. Four years of fulfilling life is more stressful and more rewarding than students from other universities. The professional academic atmosphere, fierce competition environment, diverse cultural experience, and friendly classmates and teachers have allowed me to learn the joy of life and feel the difference in my heart. Thanks to UIC for allowing me to find myself and become myself; to inspire my progress and witness my growth. I am fortunate to have my beloved mentor and beloved professional company in these four years. I sincerely wish UIC and ACCT professional to continue to grow and become more brilliant.

The four years of study and exercise at UIC and the careful guidance of the teachers have had a great impact on my career choice. Among them, the experience of participating in QP competitions in my junior year has greatly improved my ability to solve problems and work with the team. The internship and full-time offer from KPMG are inseparable from the efforts at that time.

I am very grateful to every teacher I have met in the past four years. They have shown me a colourful corner of the world in their fields of expertise, and they have also promoted my progress and exploration on the path of growth: knowing what you love or what you are dissatisfied with, knowing the reason behind your emotions and reflect on yourself, imagining different scenes in your mind over and over again to consolidate your cognition. It should be like this: trying to emulating when seeing the good and self-examination when seeing the bad.

But the life at UIC is also rich and full of beauty and gratitude. In the past four years, I have been involved in the two traditional cultural societies of cross talk and Yale. Although my academic work and anxiety have increased, my love for them has increased day by day. Cross talk is the art of language and Yayue and its dance are the scheduling of the body. When programming a program and doing better over and over again, oneself will appreciate the unspeakable beauty of each process. The sense of ritual of grasping the details with companions together, laughing together, and putting on the costumes are all refreshing experiences in college life. I practice both internally and externally, learn to be confident in my strengths, and be humble in my weaknesses. This is how I practice the concept of "whole person" education.

UIC's accounting major has given me an international perspective and provided me with the opportunity to get the QP. Now I have the opportunity to participate in on-site audit work in the United States, the United Kingdom, Japan, and Hong Kong. At the same time, the form of teamwork in class teaches me the ability to manage and unite the team.

Four years of campus experience and life, from being an ignorant student to becoming a member of PricewaterhouseCoopers, my change is completely inseparable from UIC's cultivation of me.

First of all, UIC not only provides us with the basic knowledge necessary to enter a career, but also provides us with guidelines for obtaining a CPA certificate, laying the foundation for our future career. Secondly, UIC has a teaching system that ordinary universities do not have. This system requires us to complete a large number of learning tasks in a short time. Four years later, we unknowingly improved our ability to withstand the stress, which allowed us to adapt in advance to the work pressure brought by future work. Finally, the group project designed by UIC has exercised our ability to do things well. The works in the future careers are basically carried out in groups. As long as we work hard to be responsible for ourselves and others in this university, four years later, when you think of yourself before enrolling, you will be amazed at how much you have learned and understood! By the way, what I have learned about four-years-life in UIC -as long as you have a breath, you must persevere.

Time seems to be the sand between the fingers, passing quietly along the gap. During my four years at UIC, I had a lot of thoughts from strangeness to familiarity and then to parting. UIC's comfortable living environment, teachers' teaching in fun, superior learning atmosphere and vigorous campus all let me deeply appreciate the charm of higher education. UIC’s English teaching mode makes me quickly integrate into international education. One after another group projects let me know the importance of teamwork, all of which lay a solid foundation for my further study abroad. It is my fast-growth four years while I am studying at UIC. At UIC, I met many excellent teachers, who played the role of guide for my four years, gave me the greatest support and encouragement, and made me persist when I was self-doubting. At the same time, the four-year accounting study at UIC has laid a solid foundation for me and improved my independent thinking and research ability, logic, and expression ability. Thanks to the diverse culture of UIC, it offers us infinite possibilities, let me constantly explore myself in different fields, breakthrough myself, and luckily find my passion.

Since I came to UIC, many people have asked me what liberal arts education in UIC has taught me in the past four years. I have been thinking about this question for a long time. Finally, four years later, I can give my answer. Liberal arts education does not refer to the improvement of skills or grades in any particular area, but to the continuous improvement of my personality, so that I can develop fully: it is the perseverance to stay up all night to catch up DDL, the challenge to the limit of five final exams in three days, the teamwork to participate in the dragon boat race, the overall responsibility to act as a peer mentor, the smooth talk when communication with professors, the confidence when doing presentations, and the constant growth when getting along with friends… It is often said that a person’s success cannot be achieved without “the help of four” -- individual efforts, superior guidance, assistance, and supervision. In UIC, especially as a student of the accounting department, I can always see these four figures, helping accounting students of UIC to achieve success. During the June graduation season, bless my classmates, especially you the person who has made me flutter, a brilliant future, and a wonderful journey!

Time flies. Looking back on the past four years, I am glad that I made the right choice.

UIC has provided me with an up-to-date and international platform for growth and allowed me to develop both my professional knowledge and my comprehensive abilities like time management, emotional and stress management, communication skills, and teamwork. In addition, the rich and diverse practical activities, such as the leadership training camp, being a dream mentor of Teach for China, and volunteer service course tutor, have helped me to develop into a "whole person" and further shaped my open mindset personality.

At the same time, I have also benefited from the whole-person education programs. Emotional Intelligence has enabled me to become more precise in my perception of various emotions, further enhancing my control over my own emotions and my empathy for others. Volunteer service has inspired me a strong sense of social responsibility. Besides, Chinese culture and language courses have deepened my understanding of Chinese traditional culture. All these courses have secretly shaped my civic consciousnesses, inspired my lifelong learning, and cumulated my independent thinking and problem-solving ability, which I believe are the most important skills a person needs in today's dynamic society. And UIC has provided me with many opportunities to improve.

The greatest gift UIC has brought to me is confidence, in the past four years. UIC has almost shaped me into a different me and laid a solid foundation for my future career in the international arena. I was also very fortunate to encounter professors who were both mentors and friends, such as Dr. Tsui and Dr. Uche. They gave me a lot of help and pertinent advice on my studies, master applications, and future career planning. Thanks so much. From the very beginning of hearing about UIC, "In knowledge and in deeds, unto the whole person" always exists in my mind. Four years of college life quietly ended, and I would appreciate every teacher and friend around me. They best interpreted the whole person liberal education concept, which led me step by step to the ideal and goal bravely, grateful to meet!

I selected Accounting as my major 13 years ago as I believed it is promising and interesting. I became more mature and independent after four years of study at UIC-DBM. I learned more than just professional knowledge, I came to understand how to think critically, how to do better teamwork, and how to manage time and work more effectively. After graduating from UIC, I went to the US to pursue my master's degree. After that, I came back to Macau for my Ph.D. degree. Although I had little research experience at UIC, all the skills I gained such as critical thinking and academic writing set a solid foundation for my academic life. I started my career as an Assistant Professor at Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) in 2021 to continue my work in academia. As every university faculty, I will teach, undertake academic research, and supervise graduate students in the future.

The reason why I chose BA in Accounting at UIC is that I wanted to experience something different while challenging for my bachelor's study. I am glad I made this decision as my English improved, and my international horizons were built during my undergrad studies.   From participating in group projects and business case competitions, my presentation and interaction skills are enhanced, and my business knowledge is accumulated. Teaching faculties at DBM have close relationships with students due to the small class size and they are always in the position to help us. They also have rich knowledge about the real business world as well as research. My research interests are exactly triggered by doing research projects with them. Their meticulous care and solid research skills motivated me to pursue a Ph.D. degree and be a university teacher ultimately. Honestly, studying is not an easy thing at UIC as the school has a high requirement for students and teachers usually design a challenging course syllabus. I struggled, but I am grateful for this tough process now since it helps me to work under pressure. The ability to work under pressure is very crucial for doing a Ph.D.. Regarding my Ph.D. studies, I plan to do research on the topics of REITS, residential Real Estate, and mortgage loans in the next few years. After graduation, I wish to join a research school and publish papers in decent journals.

There is always a strong learning atmosphere in Accounting major. In addition to teaching professional accounting skills, teachers will also share real business cases to help students cultivate their ability of critical thinking and establish a mature value system. During the group discussion after class, the students inspired each other in the brainstorming to make full use of their strengths and maximize the team benefits. The accumulation of knowledge and improvement of ability in these weekdays made me very useful when participating in the 2016 HSBC/University of Hong Kong Asia Pacific Business Case Competition. I'm very happy to choose the major of accounting at UIC. I can get the careful guidance of rigorous and approachable teachers and grow up with students with similar interests.

Thanks to my alma mater UIC, I can insist on paying equal attention to learning and activities during my university, and constantly improve my professional knowledge and comprehensive quality. In terms of study, I get a first-class scholarship or a second-class scholarship every year. Junior went to the United States for a semester and got a full a GPA. In terms of activities, I joined the outreach Department of the university student union, the university debate team, the University Orchestra, taekwondo society and other organizations. I also participated in the Zhuhai University student speech competition on behalf of UIC and won awards.

UIC has a wide range of courses, rich activity organizations, pays attention to quality education, develops an international vision and emphasizes the care of teachers, students and students. Here, we can not only systematically learn professional knowledge, but also promote the all-round development of morality, intelligence, physical beauty and enhance personality charm. UIC has a heavy learning task, fierce competition among students and it is not easy to get high marks. Therefore, the four-year study in university is generally tired, but it must benefit a lot. It can lay a solid foundation for further study abroad. I am happy in it.

The four years of University passed in a flash. The memories are all in front of me. In the best time, I spent the most passionate years with a group of the most lovely people on the most beautiful campus. Looking back on UIC's campus life, I was full of challenges and harvest. Intense study and rich campus life enable each UICer to make all-round progress during the University, and truly achieve the liberal education advocated by UIC. The English teaching environment and the atmosphere of mutual help among students can not only rapidly improve our professional knowledge, but also make us aware of the importance of teamwork.

We left footprints in the shade of trees. We ate in the canteen, the figure in the study room is still clear, and our breath is filled in the library. Although I have graduated from UIC, my memory still lingers in my mind. I look forward to seeing my friends again in other years, and wish UIC more brilliance!

Four years of UIC life is fleeting and vivid. Now, I'm really glad that I chose UIC as the starting point of the University. There are too many high-quality resources here, whether experienced professors, students with active thinking, or various rich and interesting competitions and activities inside and outside the school, all encourage me to become a more self-discipline, planned and targeted person all the time. The step-by-step curriculum has helped me lay a solid accounting knowledge framework and complement each other in my study of ACCA.

The intense study life also makes me a person who knows how to allocate time reasonably, balance learning, extracurricular learning and competition. I have made a group of close friends here. I am also lucky to communicate with many excellent professors, participate in many interesting competitions to exercise myself, and let me go to a university for postgraduate study that I didn't reach four years ago. Unconsciously, I spent four years in UIC, which has a fast and strong learning pace. What I can't forget are the careful and responsible teachers, the self-study room with lights on at the middle and final weeks, and the students who work hard to make progress together. Not only is the atmosphere of English teaching, but also our alma mater provides many opportunities to broaden our horizons and exercise ourselves, so that we can discover and tap our potential. In addition to studying in the University, some top overseas universities and the campus of Hong Kong headquarters can apply for credit transfer courses. During my sophomore summer vacation, I participated in the summer course of the University of Victoria. While learning new knowledge, I also gained a lot of experience in studying abroad. In my after-school life, I participated in a variety of community activities, such as serving as a volunteer in Chuanglian Charity Society and a minister and musician in iMusic music club. These experiences not only strengthened my determination to study professional knowledge in overseas colleges and universities, but also helped me find a balance between study and after-school life in the busy semester. The biggest advantage of UIC is to provide a higher platform for students to study abroad. Students can apply higher-level and well-known universities in the postgraduate stage. If to take the bachelor degree course in many domestic universities, because of lacking of the all-English learning environment, student might encounter some more difficulties in adapting the life abroad. Compared with that, UIC students could have developed a better ability in using English. At the same time, students are trained with their ability to withstand the pressure due to the tight schedule. So we have learned how to manage time more efficiently, and to make plans so to finish the tasks in an orderly way during the busy final week.

UIC has brought me enough confidence and courage to face with all the difficulties and challenges after graduation. UIC provides a diversified platform and opportunity for me to pursue independent academic spirit and free thinking without losing cultural precipitation and deposits. What impresses me most is teaching teams of DBM of UIC. All teachers are with great personality. And they are the mentors in my life. Also the Accounting Program provides students with a lot of opportunities to put their knowledge into practices, so to lay a solid foundation for future jobs.

Under the learning environment at UIC, my horizon expanded a lot. And I got a lot of help and support from UIC while applying for further studying at foreign universities. I remember that since year 1 I have gained a preliminary understanding of the studying life at foreign universities through the communication with our UIC English teachers. It’s also the year that I started preparing for the exams and materials of master degree course. During the summer break of my sophomore year, I joined the UIC summer exchange programme and took courses in Cornell University. The learning experience at a world-class university helps me with my application and have strengthened my motivation. During the winter break of the semester, I have passed the TOEFL test through taking the courses held by UIC. I have also spent effort in learning GRE during the last semester of my school life at UIC.

It’s quite full and challenging the four years of school life at UIC. The customized and specific curriculum provides a solid foundation for me to get the HKCPA certificate after graduation. I got trained on ability of teamwork and innovative thinking through the large amount of group assignments and the general education courses. Also the division encourages students to join different business case analysis competitions so to apply one’s professional knowledge into practice. It helps students to improve their communication skills. I learned to manage my time and deal with pressure under the environment where everyone has a tight schedule because of the various activities and classes. In addition to my studies, I have also participated in the volunteering in Thailand, the summer programme of Hong Kong Baptist University and the programme of the University of British Columbia in Canada. These activities broaden my horizon, improve my ability of communication. I have also made a lot of friends. Thank you for the support of UIC. And I never regret coming to UIC.

In terms of lifestyle and the way of thinking, school life at UIC has brought me a lot of challenges and changes. The fast pace of campus learning life makes me form a good habit of self-discipline. I've always tried to manage time well. So making plans ahead, managing your time properly is the cornerstone for me to balance my academic burden and spare time. I couldn’t have reached the small achievement without the help and support of our division. UIC, as a young and energetic school, integrates an international perspective, sharpens my English skills, provides me professional knowledge and helps to diversify my resume. All these have provided me qualification and ability to go for further studies at higher-level schools. UIC also helps me lay the foundations in thinking, academic, practice and networking, which benefit me a lot in the future high-intensity and high-competitive workplace. I jumped out of my comfort zone and stepped into a new level during the school life at UIC. Now I am starting a new journey. I first came to UIC all by myself in 2017. By that time, I was only 18 years old. During the four years at UIC, I have worked hard to finish school. I have met a lot of interesting people and have broaden my horizons. I grew up with UIC step by step along with success and failure. Wishing that UIC becomes better and better.

I am grateful for the opportunity to review my school life at UIC. I think all success comes from a rational and mature mentality, and I haven't fully achieved it myself yet. Truly mature people are those who can find out their own weaknesses and won’t be pleased with any small achievements. So to develop a mature mindset, you need to understand your weaknesses and be humble. I have been influenced a lot during the 4 years studying at UIC, which is busy and colourful. The strong learning atmosphere of accounting major makes me always eager for knowledge, pushes me to pursue progress. The way UIC teaches made me better at expressing my own views, communicating with teachers more actively, and learning teamwork communication and cooperation in group work. All these changes laid a solid foundation for my academic study and work in the future. During the four years of school life in UIC, under the help from the division, I participated in the case analysis of the Hong Kong Accountants Union, won the HKICPA scholarship, and had the precious internship opportunity in the "Big Four". These experiences made me more determined in my choice. Grow with UIC.
