HKICPA QP Empowers Students on the Road to Success

On the evening of April 16, 2025, the Faculty of Business and Management (FBM) Accounting Department at BNBU elegantly hosted a riveting lecture titled "HKICPA QP Empowers Students on the Road to Success" in room T2-102. The event was graced by the presence of Ms. Lilian Ying LI, the esteemed Associate Manager of Mainland China Affairs at the Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), who delivered an insightful sharing session on the HKICPA Qualification Program (QP). The lecture attracted the active participation of nearly 60 students.

At the outset of the lecture, Prof. Weimin LIU, the associate dean of the Faculty of Business and Management and the head of the Accounting Department, extended a warm welcome to Ms. Lilian Ying Li. During the Lecture, Ms. Li meticulously explained the HKICPA’s professional responsibilities, its robust qualification system, and the promising career pathways it offers. She put a spotlight on the structure of the QP, the strategic exam arrangements, the advantageous course exemptions, and the international recognition it commands. Furthermore, she elaborated on the mutual recognition pathways between HKICPA and other qualifications such as the Chinese Institute of Certified Public Accountants (CICPA) and CPA Australia. She also guided students on planning their time effectively to achieve dual certification in the shortest possible time.

Particular emphasis was placed on the benefits tailored for BNBU students. Ms. Li highlighted the merits of the “Ten-Subject Exemption Policy” and the “Early Bird Program.” She explained that students could potentially apply for up to ten exemptions based on their completed coursework and that junior students could also avail of the early registration privilege.

During the dynamic Q&A session, students actively engaged in discussions about exemptions, exam processes, and international recognition. Ms. Li addressed each query with detailed responses. The lively atmosphere persisted even after the session, with many students seizing the opportunity to consult her further.

This enlightening lecture not only provided students with invaluable information but also bolstered their understanding of the myriad professional development opportunities at their disposal. FBM remains committed to fostering collaborations with international institutions, thereby helping students broaden their global vision and enhance their competitive edge in their future careers.
