On the morning of May 10, 2025, the CGMA Global Business Challenge campus finals commenced at BNBU's T2-102 lecture theatre. Hosted by the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA & CIMA), this prestigious global competition - marking BNBU's debut participation - has attracted considerable attention across campus since its launch in April. The Department of Accounting executed comprehensive preparations, including a special case analysis workshop conducted by Dr. Wingsun Li, former Chairman of CIMA North Asia. Faculty members from the Accounting Department served as advisors, offering comprehensive guidance to student teams throughout the competition. Their support covered every critical aspect—from structuring persuasive business reports to refining dynamic presentation skills—ensuring students were fully prepared to excel at every stage.
Faculty advisors from the Accounting Department provided dedicated, end-to-end mentorship to all six competing teams. Their professional guidance spanned the entire competition spectrum - from crafting compelling business reports to mastering high-stakes presentation techniques. This holistic coaching approach ensured students were fully equipped to excel in every competition phase.
The competition finals were adjudicated by an esteemed panel of industry and academic experts. Presiding over the judging was Professor Weimin Liu, who serves as both Associate Dean of BNBU's Faculty of Business Management and Head of the Accounting Department. He was joined by Mr. Eric Pan, CIMA's Regional Director for Southern China, and Mr. Raymond Chen, Managers of Supervision and Management Accounting at Zhuhai Huafa Investment Holding Group. These experts carefully evaluated each team's business case analysis, strategic reasoning, and live presentation skills during the intense two-and-a-half-hour competition. All participating students demonstrated the exceptional qualities of a new generation of business professionals through their solid subject knowledge, sharp business insights, and outstanding teamwork abilities.
The competition concluded with an interactive networking session between participants and judges. During this exchange, panel members offered insights into contemporary developments in management accounting and its growing strategic importance in corporate decision-making. Students particularly valued the practical career advice provided, with many noting the session transcended a mere competition to become what they characterized as "a transformative professional awakening" that effectively connected academic concepts with practical business applications.
Carrying the honor and experience gained from this competition, our champion team now embarks on their journey to the national semifinals. Our champions will now represent BNBU's commitment to applied business education at the national semifinals, demonstrating how academic rigor meets professional practice.
