QP Talk | Y1 Students on Professional Accountancy

Prof Stella Cho, Dean of the Division and Business and Management (DBM), Mr Joseph Liang, PD of Accounting, and Ms Francee Guan, Associate Manager of Education and Training in Hong Kong Institute of Certified Public Accountants (HKICPA), delivered a professional talk to year 1 students on 10 September on campus.

Prof Stella Cho began with the traits that every professional accountant has, which immediately raised students great interest. She then talked about DBM’s role in helping students to achieve professionalism in Accounting, both theoretically and practically, lying under its through curriculum and its programmes accredited by HKICPA. Prof Cho also introduced the career opportunities and development in accountancy. At the end of the session, Prof Cho passed on sound advice on the planning of the 4-year study and future career.

Mr Joseph Liang, Programme Director of Accounting, also shared his experience and insight into the accounting field, encouraging the young audience to pursue their CPA dreams by working hard in college.

In the following session, Ms Francee Guan, Associate Manager of HKICPA, gave a talk on the topic “Join a league of its own, be a CPA (HK)”. The talk included an introduction on the HKICPA, how to become a CPA, the structure and benefits of the HKICPA Qualification Programme, and the upcoming activities of HKICPA.
