Mentor Caring Programme
The Mentor Caring Programme (MCP) is an important social network of UIC in which students get connected with the University through our mentors of each academic programme. MCP groups for all MHR Year 1 students are formed and led by our faculty staff and MHR student peer mentors. Our mentors are faculty members who have an expertise in navigating the entire MHR curriculum and in developing mentoring relationships with students.
The aims are to offer assistance to our Year 1 students in developing their study goals and academic competencies, by providing information and advice, and by identifying academic and social issues and needs in a timely manner. All Year 1 students are encouraged to meet with their mentors at least twice each semester.
Our student peer mentors provide assistance and support to both faculty mentors and their mentees, by helping organize individual meetings or group activities, by providing guidance and advice, and by leading their own sharing sessions and frequent casual meet-ups to help mentees quickly adapt to university life.
