Chee-Wee Tan is a Professor at the Department of Digitalization in Copenhagen Business School (CBS). His research interests focus on design and innovation issues related to digital services. His work has been published in various leading peer-reviewed journals. Apart from his current appointment as a Senior Editor for MISQ, Chee-Wee has served or is currently serving on the editorial boards for several journals.
Prof. Chee-Wee Tan began by explaining the basic concept in terms of equity crowdfunding in this study. Using Panda TV's internal governance as an example, he explained the concept of confidence contagion to the audience. He then guided the audience to the leading British-based equity crowdfunding platform used in this study. Noting that the overfunding phenomenon occurred on the platform, the audience was then led into the context of how an individual investor discovered fundraisers' confidence via campaign materials. Furthermore, he demonstrated how they utilized the platform's dataset to identify the Hawkes process, which describes the process of confidence contagion.
